Casey’s eTip: Assemble a Boundary-setting Cheer Squad
Reach out to people in your life–trusted friends, a 12-Step sponsor, clergy, accountability partners–and ask for their support as you learn to say no to what drains or hurts you. Setting limits can lead to feelings of guilt, even shame, and lots of old messages in your brain, as well as resistance from others. You need your cheer squad to remind you that it’s OK–and even necessary–to say “no, thank you” or “now is not a good time for me” when needed.
