Human beings need time to refresh and transition. The expectation that you can hurtle from one activity to the next is not reality-based. We need time for bio breaks to energize our bodies and/or re-set our brains. We need time to re-familiarize ourselves with a given project before we jump into one of its tasks. And we need time to wrap up whatever we do before our next meeting. So if you have an hour to work between meetings, expect to get 40 or 45 minutes of work done max. That’s realistic. You can do that work with greater focus and clarity if you’re not beating yourself up about it. When you meet your human needs, your experience of life gets better. It’s worth a try…
