Casey’s eTip: Don’t Let the Good Keep You from Your Best
That quote is courtesy of Stephen Covey from The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, specifically Habit 3: Put First Things First (p. 157). This advice is decades old but, since it’s principle-based, timeless. As he goes on to say, “Even when the urgent is good, the good can keep you from your best, keep you from your unique contribution, if you let it.” Don’t let it! Say “no” to the good so you have time and energy for the best.
