Casey’s eTip: Find Common Ground with the Bagel Method
When you find yourself at loggerheads about a project with a work colleague, use the Gottman’s bagel method from their 2024 book Fight Right: How Successful Couples Turn Conflict into Connection. Have each of you draw two concentric circles. In the inner circle, write your non-negotiables (what matters most to each). In the larger circle, list what aspects of the project you are willing to compromise on. Then compare notes and listen to better understand the other.
