Casey’s eTip: Listen Without Giving Advice
Telling someone how to fix their problems or improve their situation can be well-meaning, but it tends to shut the speaker down. Trust that they are capable and can handle themselves. The gift of listening attentively and respectfully may be all they need.
If you feel compelled to share some suggestion, ask if the person is receptive to advice. If they aren’t, accept it gracefully. That, too, is a gift.

And yes I get the irony that eTips are advice. 😉
