Research from Iowa State University found that students who silently wished happiness for the people they passed were themselves happier, less anxious, and feeling more socially connected than the students who focused on the clothes or appearance of those around them. This wish for happiness is a form of loving-kindness meditation.

When you mentally send love and kindness to individuals and groups, you feel better. You can then spread that positivity to others. In a world where so much is beyond our control, choosing what we think is definitely within our sphere of influence.
