Casey’s eTip: Release that Problem Employee ASAP
When someone is not a fit either personality or skills-wise, it’s not just a hassle for you. The team they lead or are a part of suffers. Annoyed coworkers, held to a different standard, have to pick up their slack. These good employees will lose trust in you for allowing the situation to persist. If there are new-ish people on the team, the lack of consequences for someone whose behavior is inept or toxic makes them believe that your company culture accepts this behavior. The sooner you release the troublesome employee, the sooner the healing begins, even if everyone has to step up to cover that position’s responsibilities until a replacement is found.
