Casey’s eTip: Stay Current in Your Field Part 2

Casey's eTip: Stay Current in Your Field Part 2

Staying aware of current events, changes in your field (and your clients’ industries) is key to staying viable in your career. Casey’s eTip: Stay Current in Your Field Part 2

Last week I shared different sources of information so you can stay current. Here are some strategies to make it happen:
  • Block time to read, watch or listen. It if matters to you, it needs to be on your calendar, as important as a meeting with another human.
  • Read, watch or listen a little at a time, rather than planning a binge of catching up that probably won’t happen and isn’t conducive to retention and integration.
  • Give your full attention. There’s no point in trying to learn something if your mind is not fully engaged. The only possible exception to the “no multi-tasking” rule is learn while doing another task that requires almost no mental power, e.g., eating lunch or walking around the building.
