Casey’s eTip: Use the Platinum Rule in Communications
The Platinum Rule is to “Do unto others as they would have done unto themselves.” This especially applies to communication. Speak and write to coworkers and clients in ways that align with THEIR preferences. If your supervisor likes bullet points, give them just the headline and facts. If a colleague enjoys banter before business, banter a bit. When you communicate with your audience in mind, they understand you better. They will also feel more understood by you and more connected with you as a result.
